Bethesda have released a new trailer for Doom Eternal, and it’s everything I wanted it to be, just like Doom 2016. It features new enemies, new weapons, and even some story beads to interest the three of you that actually care about the story in Doom. For Pete’s sake, just give the guy a gun and let him sort things out, eh?

Doom Eternal New Trailer Features Gameplay & Story Elements

When it came out in 2016, the reboot of Doom scratched a very specific itch for me. Namely, it gave me a ridiculously over-the-top shooter with blood and guts flying everywhere, along with a story that I could safely not give a toss about. I am a child of the nineties, bite me. And, if the new trailer for Doom Eternal is anything to go by, then that itch is gonna get very, very scratched yet again. That was a disgusting metaphor, and I apologize.

The trailer shows off a ton of gameplay, as well as story elements, which, let’s be honest, who cares about? What I care about is the fact that I’ll have brand new weapons to cut through brand new enemies, both demonic and, as I understand it, angelic. Let’s not forget the grappling hook, which allows you to bring the combat into the air if you so choose. Also, I’m pretty sure Shao Kahn makes an appearance. And what’s that you said? The Crucible sword which glory-kills huge enemies by chopping them into chunks? Well, sign me up. That’s all I need to know.

Doom Eternal, originally slated for November 2019, is coming out on Tuesday, March 20th, 2020. You’ll be able to play it on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. And, of course, Google Stadia. If you preorder it, you’ll get the Rip and Tear pack, as well as a digital download of Doom 64. And, if you get the Deluxe Edition, you’ll get the Year One Pass (featuring Campaign DLC 1 and 2), Classic Weapons Sound Pack (what now?) and the Demonic Slayer skin.
